Player of the Match: Robbie Brady (Ireland)

Ireland, which had to win in order to advance to the round of 16, had the bigger pull to goal in this game than the Italians, who had changed in numerous positions because of the already established group victory. Insignia with a shot at the post and Hoolahan, who freely missed before Sirigu, each had a great chance to decide the game in the closing stages. The winning goal for Ireland came with a header from Brady after a cross from Hoolahan just a minute after his missed chance. As one of the best third party in the group, the Irish made it to the knockout round for the first time at an EM.
