Future Idiots is a rock band founded in Sweden in 2005 . According to the group, the influences lie with bands like Blink-182 , The Offspring , Green Day , Social Distortion , NOFX , No Use for a Name , Bad Religion , Bowling for Soup , Foo Fighters and Avenged Sevenfold . The band is currently under contract with the Californian independent label Pacific Ridge Records .
history
The band was founded when the members were still in school, shortly afterwards they released the demo tape Point of No Return with eleven songs. With the demo version of Love and Murder released in 2006 , which Pacific Ridge Records mastered in 2010 and swapped tracks 10 and 11 for others, the band wanted to distance themselves from the idea of being a fun or school project band and step into it Dare to join a professional band.
In August of the same year the album was released with the title Grand Theft Audio (as a reference to the computer game series Grand Theft Auto ), the track list of which consisted mainly of rock covers by famous artists.
In the same year, the band released their third studio album Lust in November with 14 songs that had not been released until then.
The fourth album (second cover album) Grand Theft Audio 2 was released in July 2011 and, like Grand Theft Audio, only contains cover versions of existing songs.
In October 2011 it was announced that the new EP Goes Heavy Metal will be released on November 29th. What makes the album stand out is the fact that fans were able to choose an existing song through online voting, which the band would then cover and release. The Californian metal band Avenged Sevenfold was chosen for the song Afterlife .
On January 11, 2012, fans were asked via Facebook whether the band should cover the album Neighborhoods by the American band Blink-182. Within a few minutes, the group received a tremendous amount of positive feedback, so that the band announced on the same day that the album was in progress.
In the fall of 2012, Future Idiots hit the headlines by releasing the cover album Neighborhoods and Morningwoods , a paraphrase of the blink-182 album Neighborhoods , which was released the same year.
According to a quote from the band, Neighborhoods and Morningwoods should sound like the old blink-182 albums, such as Enema of the State or Take Off Your Pants and Jacket . Future Idiots described their cover album as follows: "The album sounds like it should have been in the original blink-182."
This not only led to threats from blink-182 fans, but also to the American radio station KROQ becoming aware of them. Mark Hoppus , lead singer of Blink 182, was asked in an interview about his opinion about the album by Future Idiots and said that he had already listened to it himself and that he thought it was very successful.
The band's sixth album is an album of the same name (Selftitled), the release of which was celebrated on April 28, 2012 at the Best Western Hotel in their hometown of Klippan .

Cover versions
The band is characterized, among other things, by publishing covers in rock or pop-punk style (more rarely in the acoustic area). So two albums consist almost entirely of covers of songs that few time before the release of the album in the charts or were classics of popular music represent. Other covers are mostly from the heavy / power metal area or from the pop-punk genre itself (e.g. tribute songs for blink-182, Bowling for Soup or Alkaline Trio ).
