Klaus Reichert (fencer)

Klaus Reichert (born June 3, 1947 in Hanau ) is a former German fencer who became German champion , world champion and Olympic champion with the foil .

Life

Klaus Reichert joined OFC Bonn while studying dentistry , his trainer was Jean Coibion.

At the fencing world championships in 1971 Reichert reached a grand finale for the first time and was fifth. With the team he finished 5th at the 1972 Olympic Games and 2nd at the 1973 World Fencing Championships . After two fourth places with the team at the 1974 and 1975 World Championships , he won team gold at the 1976 Olympic Games . For this, he and the German fencing team were awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf on October 14, 1976. He also won team gold at the 1977 World Championships in Buenos Aires. In 1983 Reichert won team gold again at the World Championships in Vienna and won silver in the individual at the European Championships in Lisbon .

Klaus Reichert was German individual champion in 1975 , 1980 and 1981 . After winning the silver medal with the team at the 1984 Olympic Games , he resigned from competitive sports .

Klaus Reichert works as a dentist in Bonn.
