European Judo Championships

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Judo Championships are organized by the European Judo Union . They have been held regularly since 1951 and annually since 1957. At the beginning only men's competitions were held there. From 1975 there were separate European championships for men and women. From 1987 these were held together in one place.

The 1956 European Championships were awarded to Vienna and would have been held there in the exhibition hall on 16./17. November should take place. After England, France, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg and Spain withdrew their entries, the European Judounion decided not to hold it.
