Gambia took part in the 1996 Summer Olympics in the US metropolis of Atlanta with nine athletes, one woman and eight men, in six competitions in one sport.

Since 1984 , it was Gambia's fourth participation in the Summer Olympics .

Flag bearer

Track and field athlete Dawda Jallow carried the flag of Gambia during the opening ceremony on July 19 at the Centennial Olympic Stadium .
