Sergei Nikolajewitsch Sukhorutschenkow (Russian Сергей Николаевич Сухорученков ; born August 10, 1956 in Trostnaja, Bryansk region ) is a former cyclist from Russia who competed for the Soviet Union during his active time . Sukhorutschenkow trained at SKA Kuibyshev under the guidance of Vladimir Petrov .
Athletic career
Sergei Suchorutschenkow has been cycling since 1970. He won the gold medal in the individual road race at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow . He prevailed over the distance of 189 kilometers with a time of 4:48:28 h and was three minutes ahead of the next-placed drivers at the same time, Poland's Czesław Lang in second place and his compatriot Juri Barinow as bronze medalist. With this victory, he was also road world champion of amateurs.
In addition, he won the International Peace Tour twice in his career . During the 1979 peace run , it was not intended for the Soviet team before the start of the tour. USSR head coach Viktor Kapitonow had nominated the 21-year-old Ramasan Galjaletdinow instead of Sukhoruchenkov . However, Sergei Morozov fell ill on the last day before the start and was replaced by Sergei Sukhorutschenkow. He won the tour in 1979 by 6:27 minutes. He also won two stages and secured the green jersey for the best climber.
In the 1981 peace run , he finished second in the overall ranking behind his compatriot Schachid Sagretdinow , won the mountain classification again and secured a stage victory. He finished the 1982 peace drive almost four minutes behind in 17th place. He achieved his second overall victory at the Peace Run in 1984 , in which he also won the green jersey for the best mountain driver for the third time, as well as his fourth stage of the Peace Run.
Sergei Suchorutschenkow also won the 1978 Tour of Cuba , 1978 and 1979 the Tour de l'Avenir and 1979 and 1981 at the Giro delle Regioni .

Sergei Suchorutschenkow is the father of the cyclist Olga Sabelinskaja (* 1980).
