Around the middle of the 19th century, the place had almost 200 inhabitants. The mechanization of agriculture and the associated loss of jobs caused a significant population decline in the first half of the 20th century.
economy
The area around the village is still characterized by agriculture and forestry, with livestock (cattle and sheep) making up the majority of agricultural production.
Attractions
- The Château de Serres is a mighty, block-like but largely unadorned building from the 16th century; At the corners of the building there are some fortified oriels ( bretèches ) that are reminiscent of medieval castles. The castle has been designated as a monument historique since 1947 . It is privately owned.
- A two-arched segment arch bridge leads over the Rialsesse brook , which shortly after flows into the Sals. The two arches are designed as segment arches, so that a late construction period (16th / 17th century) can be assumed.
- The inconspicuous single-nave village church with a small bell gable could still be of Romanesque origin.
