Thauvenay is located about 45 kilometers east-northeast of Bourges on the Loire and the Vauvise . Thauvenay is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Ménétréol-sous-Sancerre in the north, Tracy-sur-Loire in the east and northeast, Couargues in the southeast, Saint-Bouize in the south, Vinon in the west and southwest and Sancerre in the northwest.
