Assigny is a French municipality with 152 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Cher in the region Center-Val de Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Bourges and the Canton of Sancerre (until 2015: Canton of Vailly-sur-Sauldre ).

Assigny is about 48 kilometers northeast of Bourges . The Salereine river runs along the south-western boundary of the municipality , its tributary Venelle crosses the municipality. Assigny is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Sury-ès-Bois in the north and west, Savigny-en-Sancerre in the north and east, Subligny in the south and Jars in the south-west.
