Saint-Martin-des-Champs is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Herry in the north and northeast, La Chapelle-Montlinard in the east, Argenvières in the southeast, Jussy-le-Chaudrier in the south and Sancergues in the west.
The municipality is located on the Route nationale 151 and on the Via Lemovicensis , one of the four historic " routes of the pilgrims of St. James in France ".
