Couy is a commune with 355 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Cher in the region Center-Val de Loire . It belongs to the canton of Avord (until 2015: canton of Sancergues ) and to the communal association Communauté de communes Berry-Loire-Vauvise . The inhabitants are called Coiatiens .

Couy is located in the Berry about 32 kilometers east-northeast of Bourges . Couy is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Sévry in the north, Charentonnay in the east and northeast, Garigny in the east and southeast, Villequiers in the south and southwest, Gron in the west and Chaumoux-Marcilly in the northwest.

The Via Lemovicensis , one of the four historical “ Paths of the St. James pilgrims in France ” , runs through the municipality .
