Jars is located in central France , about 39 kilometers northeast of Bourges on the Sauldre . Jars is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Villegenon in the north and north-west, Thou in the north, Sury-ès-Bois in the north and north-east, Assigny in the north-east, Subligny in the east, Menetou-Râtel in the south-east, Le Noyer in the south, La Chapelotte in the south-west as well Ivoy-le-Pré to the west and south-west.
