Charentonnay is located in the Berry about 44 kilometers east-northeast of Bourges . Charentonnay is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Lugny-Champagne in the north and north-west, Saint-Martin-des-Champs in the east, Jussy-le-Chaudrier in the south-east, Garigny in the south, Couy in the south-west and Sévry in the west.
The municipality is located on the Route nationale 151 and on the Via Lemovicensis , one of the four historic " routes of the pilgrims of St. James in France ".
