Léré is a commune with 1,098 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Cher in the region Center-Val de Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Bourges and the Canton of Sancerre (until 2015: Canton Léré ).

geography

Léré is located in central France , about 56 kilometers northeast of Bourges on the Loire , which forms the eastern municipal border. The Canal latéral à la Loire runs through the municipality . Léré is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Sury-près-Léré in the north, La Celle-sur-Loire in the east, Boulleret in the south and Savigny-en-Sancerre in the west.
