The small town is located on the right bank of the Garonne River , a few kilometers below the confluence of its right tributary, the Lot .

Transport links

Tonneins is served by the D813 département road , which comes from Aiguillon in the direction of Marmande . The Bordeaux – Sète railway runs parallel to this on the right bank of the Garonne. The Garonne itself is not to be seen as a traffic route in this section, as the Canal latéral à la Garonne (German: Garonne side canal), which runs on the other bank of the Garonne, has already attracted very little freight traffic. The river itself is only navigable for fishing boats and small pleasure boats. A bridge built by Eugène Freyssinet in 1922 leads the D120 with five arches over the Garonne.
