The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Château-Thierry and is part of the canton of Essômes-sur-Marne (until 2015: canton of Condé-en-Brie ).

Trélou-sur-Marne is located about 80 kilometers east-northeast of Paris on the Marne , which borders the municipality in the south. Trélou-sur-Marne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Courmont in the north, Champvoisy in the northeast, Vincelles in the east, Dormans in the south and southeast, Courthiézy in the south, Reuilly-Sauvigny in the southwest, Barzy-sur-Marne in the west and Le Charmel in the northwest .
