Courmont is a French municipality with 133 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Aisne in the region of Hauts-de-France (former Region: Picardie ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Château-Thierry and is part of the canton of Fère-en-Tardenois .

geography

Courmont is located around 22 kilometers northeast of Château-Thierry above the upper reaches of the Ourcq . The village of Villardelle is to the south and the Châlet de Vilardelle on the southern border of the municipality, and the Qurcq source is nearby. To the west, part of the Bois de la Garenne forest belongs to the municipality. In the south, the municipality has a share in the Forêt de Ris forest. To the south, the municipality extends over the Autoroute A4 (Autoroute de l'Est) and the LGV Est européenne to the group of houses of La Fosse.

history

The community was on an old road from Soissons to Dormans on the Marne . A Gallo-Roman villa was located in Courmont, and ceramic remains were also found.
