Celles-lès-Condé is a French commune with a population of 87 (as at 1st January 2017) in the department of Aisne in the region of Hauts-de-France (former Region: Picardie ). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Château-Thierry and is part of the canton of Essômes-sur-Marne (formerly: Condé-en-Brie).
geography
Celles is located around 13 kilometers east-southeast of Château-Thierry and immediately north of Condé-en-Brie on the Surmelin river . The municipality includes Herviné and Dannejeu, which have grown together with Condé.
Toponymy
During the French Revolution , the community was called Celles-lès-Vallon-Libre.
history
In Celles there was a priory of the abbey of Marmoutier in Tours. Before the revolution, the parish belonged to the Diocese of Troyes.
Viticulture
Celles is part of the Champagne wine-growing region, although it is located outside the region .
