The University of Burgundy ( French Université de Bourgogne ) is a state university in eastern France. It is a relatively young university and was founded in 1971 as part of the reorganization of the French university landscape by the Loi Faure . It is named after the historical Burgundy landscape and today's French region of Burgundy . It is based in the regional capital Dijon .
history
The University of Dijon , founded in 1722, gained considerable importance for Germany and the German legal education during the French period , because the introduction of the new civil code by Napoleon made it advisable to study it in the occupied territories of Germany. In 1806 Napoleon declared Dijon to be one of the main focuses of French legal training. Many German students completed this part of their studies in France themselves. In this respect, Dijon was also a center of German legal training in France during the Empire from 1809 to 1813.
particularities
The university has its own winery in Marsannay-la-Côte and has fully integrated oenology courses organized by the Jules-Guyot Institute, named after Jules Guyot .
