General
The K 100 RT is the touring motorcycle of the K 100 series, which was built 22,335 times at BMW's Berlin plant in Spandau from 1984 to 1988 . In addition to the features of the basic BMW K 100 model, the RT is equipped with a large panel and the standard case system. The K 100 LT was also equipped with the Nivomat system from BOGE and radio preparation. This is a closed spring strut under high pressure, which automatically sets the same ground clearance depending on the load. The RT was replaced by the K 100 LT in 1988 , the BMW K100 LT had been offered in parallel with the RT since 1986. Since 1988 the RT has been available with an optional anti-lock braking system (surcharge 1980, - DM; 10 kg extra weight).
