The BMW K 75 was a motorcycle series from BMW with a three-cylinder in - line engine and 740 cm³ displacement , which was built from 1985 to 1996. Technically and optically, the K 75 was based on the K 100 with four-cylinder engines, which was two years older .
In order to compensate for the vibrations, the K-75 engine, reduced by one cylinder , was equipped with a balance shaft . In contrast to many other motorcycles, in which the clutch and manual transmission are housed in the engine block ( block engine ), the K 75 engine and transmission were separate from each other, as is common in passenger cars.
The engine with an output of 55 kW (75 hp) at 8500 rpm has two valves per cylinder. In contrast to the four-cylinder models, which were equipped with multi-valve technology as the BMW K1 from 1988 , the K 75 was therefore not offered. Because of their reliability, many states put the K 75 RT in the police one, the Bundeswehr had to 2004 K 75 as escort motorcycle in the military police in action.
