List of BMW motorcycles
This list of BMW - motorcycles is not alphabetically, but organized chronologically and by engine types. Current models available in Germany are highlighted in bold. The specified years are only intended as a rough guide. Production and sales differ greatly depending on the sales market under consideration and cannot be fully represented here. If exactly known, these are discussed in the relevant articles.
R series
The R series is the first series of BMW motorcycles. The models are powered by single-cylinder engines (until 1966) and two-cylinder boxer engines (until today). The R stands for wheel to distinguish the engines from the aircraft engines produced so far.
