The BMW K 1300 R is a motorcycle from the manufacturer BMW and was manufactured from 2009 to 2016 at the BMW plant in Berlin in Spandau . The naked bike is technically almost identical to the BMW K 1300 S , but without full fairing and with a higher handlebar. The successor to the BMW K 1200 R was presented to the press on October 7, 2008 at the Intermot in Munich .

Technical specifications

drive

The liquid-cooled four - cylinder engine generates a nominal output of 127 kW (173 hp) at a speed of 9250 min −1 and a maximum torque of 140 Nm at 8250 min −1 from a displacement of 1293 cm³ . The transversely installed in- line engine has four valves per cylinder. The four cylinders have a bore of 80 mm and a stroke of 64.3 mm. The four-stroke engine has a compression ratio of 13: 1.

chassis

The chassis consists of an aluminum bridge frame and a load-bearing motor. The front wheel is guided by a Duolever with central spring strut and 115 mm of travel, the rear wheel by a single-sided swing arm made of cast aluminum with Paralever and 135 mm of travel. The tires are 120/70 ZR 17 at the front and 180/55 ZR 17 at the rear. The fuel tank holds 19.0 liters, of which 4.0 liters are in reserve. The dry weight is 217 kg, the empty weight 243 kg.

Powertrain

The power is transmitted via a multi-disc clutch in an oil bath, a claw-shifted six-speed gearbox and a cardan drive . A double disc brake with a diameter of 320 mm decelerates on the front wheel, and a single disc brake with a diameter of 265 mm on the rear. An optionally available, partially integral anti-lock braking system regulates the braking system. The average fuel consumption is 7.2 liters of premium gasoline per 100 km at a speed of 120 km / h. The equipment includes digital engine electronics (BMS-K) with electronic injection, integrated knock control and overrun fuel cutoff.

The motorcycle accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 270 km / h.

Paintwork

The K 1300 R is offered in two paint finishes:

Sapphire black metallic Racingred uni

Previously possible colors: 2009: gray, white, lava orange 2010: gray, black, green

Reviews

“From the outside there is not much to be seen of the change in the R. Slight retouches on the plastic make the appearance a little crisper and sportier. And despite all the technical modifications, the K 1300 R is not a miracle machine. A motorcycle that sets standards, definitely. "

- Gerd Thöle : motorcycle

“Even in the tight sport mode, which is best suited to researching country roads, BMW demands active participation from the driver if he wants to drive the K 1300 out of the Taurus spirit. Although the extremely handy Conti Sport Attack suggests willing turn-in, the K becomes visibly nervous when there is increased pressure on the front wheel. At the same time, you can feel the mass of the large motorcycle in the handlebars, which means: the BMW pushes outwards.

- Volker Jacob, Sebastian Lang, Uwe Seitz : PS

"Thanks to the renunciation of everything unnecessary and the reduction to the essentials, the K 1300 R concentrates on one thing above all else: acceleration. And she does that in all situations not only confidently - but downright with elemental force. "

- Volker Pfau : tz
