The BMW F 700 GS was presented at the BMW Motorrad Days in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 2012 and replaced the BMW F 650 GS in 2013. The machine was manufactured in the BMW motorcycle factory in Berlin-Spandau. It is equipped with a water-cooled two-cylinder four-stroke in-line engine, which generates a nominal output of 75 hp from a displacement of 798 cm³ . The petrol consumption is 3.9 liters at a constant speed of 90 km / h and 5.1 liters at 120 km / h, 95 octane super unleaded petrol . The fuel tank of the F 700 GS holds 16 liters, of which 2.7 liters are in reserve. The GS is equipped with cast aluminum wheels, 19 inch at the front and 17 inch at the rear . The seat height is very low for an enduro .
As usual at BMW, the prefix “F” stands for “Fun” or “Funduro” and the suffix GS for terrain & road . The designer in charge of the 800 twins was David Robb . BMW itself called the F 700 GS the "ultimate all-rounder".

The general type designation of the F 700 GS is K70. The model code 0B01 or 0B11 applies to machines built between 06/2012 and 08/2016. All K70 models from 08/2016 have the codes 0B06 or 0B16.
