The BMW C 650 GT is a scooter from the German motorcycle manufacturer BMW .

history

The C 650 GT was presented to  the public for the first time together with its sporty counterpart BMW C 600 Sport on November 10, 2011 on the occasion of the EICMA 2011 motorcycle fair in Milan .

The planned delivery in spring 2012 was delayed due to technical difficulties.

“During extreme maneuvers, the chain elongated that was outside of the specification. We narrowed the drivetrain in terms of tolerances and changed the engine setup accordingly. "

- Rudolf Probst : BMW motorcycle spokesman

From July 14, 2012 the first vehicles were delivered in Italy, Spain and France, and from July 21, 2012 also in Germany. All other European markets followed on July 28, 2012, the overseas markets were supplied from autumn 2012.

In November 2015 the revised version of the C 650 GT was presented, which, in addition to a new design and revised CVT transmission, can be equipped with the so-called "Side View Assistant" (blind spot assistant) on request. The C 650 GT is the first two-wheeler to be mass-produced with this type of technology.

technology

drive

The water-cooled two - cylinder engine generates a nominal output of 44 kW (60 HP) and a maximum torque of 66 Nm at a speed of 6000 rpm from a displacement of 647 cm³ . The cylinder bank of the in- line engine is inclined forward by 70 °. The two cylinders have a bore of 79 mm, the pistons have a stroke of 66 mm with a compression ratio of 11.6: 1. Two chain-driven, overhead camshafts control two intake and two exhaust valves per cylinder via bucket tappets . Vibration is minimized by a crank pin offset of 90 degrees and two balance shafts . The continuously variable transmission ( CVT ) drives the rear wheel via an encapsulated O-ring roller chain. The drive has a 21% power loss due to the stepless power transmission. The engine has a regulated catalytic converter for exhaust gas cleaning and meets the requirements of Euro 3 , since model year 2016 Euro 4 .

The average fuel consumption is 4.7 liters per 100 km. The fuel tank has a volume of 16 liters, of which 3 liters are in reserve. The manufacturer recommends the use of unleaded motor gasoline with a knock resistance of at least 95 octane and specifies a theoretical range of 340 km. The scooter accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.4 seconds and reaches an electronically governed top speed of 180 km / h.

landing gear

The main frame consists of a torsion-resistant tubular steel bridge construction to which die-cast aluminum parts and the load-bearing motor-gear unit are screwed. The front wheel is guided by an upside-down fork , the rear wheel by a single-sided swing arm. The brakes are equipped with an anti-lock braking system as standard.
