BMW G 650 X is a motorcycle series from the German vehicle manufacturer BMW , consisting of the three models Xchallenge , Xmoto and Xcountry . The single-cylinder motorcycles were developed together with Aprilia under the direction of BMW, presented at the Intermot in Cologne in 2006 and final assembly at the Aprilia plant in Scorzè in northern Italy by 2009 . The factory code is K15.

construction

drive

The liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine of Rotax generated from 652 cc a nominal power of 39 kW (53 hp) and a maximum torque of 60 Nm at a speed of 5250 min -1 . The cylinder of the four-stroke engine has a bore of Ø 100 mm, the piston has a stroke of 83 mm with a compression ratio of 11.5: 1. The cylinder head has two chain-driven overhead camshafts that control two intake and two exhaust valves. The fuel tank has a capacity of 9.51 liters.

The Rotax motor accelerates the two-wheeler from 0 to 100 km / h in approx. 5 seconds and enables a top speed of 170 km / h. From 2008 the engine was manufactured in China (except XMoto).

landing gear

The chassis is built on a steel bridge frame with side parts and a screwed aluminum rear frame. The rear wheel is guided by a heat-treated two-arm swing arm made of aluminum, the front wheel by an upside-down telescopic fork with a Ø 45 mm standpipe diameter. A disc brake with two-piston brake caliper slows down both front and rear. An optional anti-lock braking system supports the deceleration.

Technical specifications

The models

G 650 Xmoto

The Xmoto with its long -travel suspension and sports tires with low negative profile share a Supermoto similar to the KTM Duke . It rolls on 17 "cast light alloy wheels and brakes at the front with a 320 mm brake disc. A total of 2692 Xmoto were built and 768 were sold in Germany.

G 650 Xcountry

The Xcountry is a typical scrambler that is also suitable for easier terrain, but is in itself a street motorcycle. It rolls on 19 "spoked wheels at the front and 17" spoked wheels at the rear, which are covered with more profiled tires. A total of 6462 Xcountry were built and 4529 were sold in Germany.

G 650 Xchallenge

The Xchallenge is a classic enduro . It has a high fender at the front and a massive underrun protection for the engine. Thanks to the spoke wheels in 21 "(front) and 18" (rear) format, the Xchallenge can be equipped with the coarse tires common in enduro sports. It is equipped with an upside-down fork with adjustable damping in compression and rebound and, like the HP2 Enduro, with an air suspension strut. The suspension travel is 270 mm at the front and rear. The brake discs (front Ø 300 mm, rear 240 mm) are designed as wave brake discs. The license plate holder with the attached indicators can be removed for off-road use. A total of 3899 Xchallenge were built and 889 of them were sold in Germany.

G 650 GS

The single-cylinder successor to the BMW F 650 GS, which was produced until 2007, has been available in Germany under the name G 650 GS and the variant G 650 GS Sertão .

Reviews

“All in all, the BMW is an excellent bike, but it will not be mass-produced like the F 650 GS once was. The target group for this bike is simply too small for that. Newcomers to BMW will have a problem with the price, loyal BMW customers will have a problem with the sporty character with a little too little comfort in the saddle. "

- Nils Müller : 1000ps.de

“The Xcountry marks the roadster's model boy: everyday, even slightly off-road and absolutely uncomplicated to use. The single cylinder impresses with its smooth running, good manners, pulling power and revving with low fuel consumption. "
