Charmont is a French commune in the department of Val-d'Oise in the region Ile-de-France . The residents call themselves Charmontois or Charmontoises . The village with 36 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) is the smallest municipality in the Val-d'Oise department.

geography

The place is located on the RD 983 ( Gisors - Magny-en-Vexin - Mantes-la-Jolie ), about 50 km northwest of Paris and two kilometers south of Magny-en-Vexin.

Charmont's neighboring municipalities are Magny-en-Vexin in the north, Banthelu in the southeast, Maudétour-en-Vexin in the south, Genainville in the southwest and Hodent in the west.

The municipality is part of the Vexin français Regional Nature Park .

history

Charmont was a hamlet in the municipality of Magny-en-Vexin for a long time and only became independent during the French Revolution .
