Désertines is a French commune in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region with 4,422 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). It belongs to the arrondissement of Montluçon and the canton of Gorron (until 2015: canton of Montluçon-2 ). The inhabitants are called biachets .
geography
Désertines is located in the Massif Central on the Cher River . Désertines is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Victor in the north and north-west, Verneix in the north-east, Saint-Angel in the east, Néris-les-Bains in the south-east and the city of Montluçon in the west and south, with which Désertines has grown structurally.
The former Route nationale 144 runs through the town .
