mode
The FA Cup is played in rounds. Any team that has a certain level of performance and has an appropriate playing field can take part. The pairings of each round will be drawn in an open draw without a seeding list. The team drawn first has home rights. If the game ends in a draw, the game goes into extra time or penalty shoot-out.
Some teams are exempt from certain rounds:
- In the second qualifying round, the teams of the National League North / South (6th division of the English league) are added.
- In the fourth qualifying round, the teams of the National League (5th division of the English league) are added.
- In the first main round, the teams of League 1 and 2 of the Football League (3rd and 4th division of the English league) are added.
- In the third main round on the first weekend in January, the teams of the Football League Championship (2nd division of the English league) and the Premier League (1st division of the English league) are added.
The semi-finals and the final will take place at Wembley Stadium.
Each winner receives a bonus from the television money, which is staggered according to rounds.
