Klöch ( Slovenian Klek ), the "pearl of the south-east Styrian wine country", is a market town with 1,168 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the judicial district of Feldbach or the district of south-east Styria , about nine kilometers north of Bad Radkersburg .

The municipal area comprises five cadastral communities and is divided into five towns of the same name (in brackets: area as of December 31, 2019 or population as of January 1, 2020):

  • Deutsch Haseldorf (387.46 ha; 186 Ew.) Including Buchberg, Kratzer and Rosenberg
  • Gruisla (241.19 ha; 141 Ew.) Including Hochwarth, Klinzl and Rosenberg
  • Klöch (411.78 ha; 392 Ew.) Including Hochwarth, Klinzl, Ölberg, Pichlerwaldsiedlung, Pirchweingarten and Röhrl
  • Klöchberg (340.50 ha; 330 Ew.) Including Hürtherberg, Röhrl, Seindl, Süßegg and Zaraberg
  • Pölten (258.80 hectares; 119 Ew.) Including Pirchweingarten

  • The Klöcher Winzerzug takes place every five years (most recently September 2018) in Klöch der Winzerzug. Numerous lavishly decorated floats with old customs invite you to celebrate. Usually, the grape harvest is also celebrated and then the Klöcher Press Festival is held.

Culinary specialties

The wine-growing town of Klöch became particularly well-known through its wine-growing activities , which made it the name of the Klöcher Wine Route. In particular, Klöcher Traminer , the "wine with the scent of rose", has achieved a level of awareness throughout Europe .

The municipality of Klöch has had a municipal coat of arms since 1959. The blazon reads:

"In a shield split by silver and red, a five-petalled rose in alternating colors."

This coat of arms was already used by the Wolfsauer as lords of Klöch .
