The individual mayors resisted centralization, mainly because of the impending tax losses, but ultimately had to take note of the decision.
  • With a resolution of the Styrian regional government of October 15, 1952, the municipality of St. Anna am Aigen was raised to a market municipality and the municipal coat of arms was awarded. Governor Josef Krainer senior took part in the ceremonial act of the community as a guest of honor.
  • In 1969, by order of the Styrian state government, further municipal amalgamations were carried out. The previously independent communities Waltra and Jamm were dissolved and incorporated into the market town of St. Anna am Aigen.
  • On January 1, 2015, the municipality of St. Anna am Aigen grew again by order of the Styrian state government through the incorporation of the previously independent municipality of Frutten-Gießelsdorf.
