The number one hits of the music industry in the Netherlands ( Nederlandse Top 40 ) are determined by Radio 538 (formerly Radio Veronica ). The sales figures of the singles and the airplay data are used as benchmarks.

The first single hit parade of the Netherlands was published on January 2, 1965 . Since then, there have been more than 600 number one hits, most of them (over 500) in English and Dutch (80 in October 2007).
