List of independent cities in Poland

This list contains the independent cities in Poland , these are cities that do not belong to a powiat . Its Polish name is " miasto na prawach powiatu ", which means city with the right of a district . There are 66 independent cities in Poland . The smallest independent city is Sopot ( Sopot ) with currently 35,827 inhabitants, for which a special regulation was created.

In addition to these municipalities, there are 314 Powiate with district cities. The independent cities are distributed over the 16 voivodships of the country as follows (sort alphabetically):

All independent cities are listed below. Inhabitants stands for residents (as of June 30, 2019). Clicking on the coordinates given in the Location column opens a website with the option of displaying the location of the city on various map services . The column location map shows the location of the respective city within its voivodeship.

If the city is the seat of an independent rural district and an independent rural municipality (belonging to the powiat) , these are listed in the columns Powiat and Gmina. - In the special case of Gdańsk, the seat of the Powiat Gdański ( district of Gdańsk ) and the independent rural community is not in Gdańsk, but in the city of Pruszcz Gdański ( Praust ).
