List of highest surveys of the states of Europe

This page lists the highest natural elevation of any sovereign state on the European continent, defined physiographically. Countries that are politically and culturally associated with Europe or the EU , but not geographically at least partially part of Europe, are shown in this list with a colored background . Mountains, which are counted as part of Europe depending on the definition of the continent borders, also have a background marking . Not all items in this list are mountains or hills; some are simply elevations that are not noticeable as geographic features.

Notes refer to special features. For example, the highest elevations of some national areas are outside Europe. They are displayed together with the continental summit, but have a colored background .

25. ↑ The hill is not far from the border with Belarus . In 2004 the survey was re-measured by the Geodesy Institute of the Gediminas University of Technology in Vilnius using GPS . Until then, Juozapinės kalnas , located about 500 m to the east, was the highest point in the country at 292.7  m .

    The exact highest point of Monaco is on the "Villa Frontalière" property. It is a Belle Epoque villa with outbuildings in the formerly large garden. Another tenant was the painter Francis Bacon mbartfoundation.com . Lot 24-6 is located opposite the Chemin des Révoires confluence with the Route de la Moyenne Corniche . The principality is 162.51 m high on the inside of the wall corner (in front of which the traffic mirrors  are), which delimits the property and national territory at the same time . Unfortunately, the view from above over the city and the sea is blocked by the high-rise apartment building "Le Bermuda".

30. ↑ The Zla Kolata ( Albanian  Kollata e keqe ) lies on the Albanian - Montenegrin border.
31. ↑ ^{a b} Saba in the Caribbean is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and has a 887 m high volcano.
32. ↑ Galdhøpiggen is also the highest mountain in Scandinavia . For a long time Glittertind, about 12 km to the east, with its rock height of 2452  moh. as the highest mountain in Norway. However, it is covered by an Eiswechte and has now reached 2464  moh. melted off.

    The highest point is an inconspicuous hill north of the village and to the left of the road just before the border with Ukraine.

49. ↑ ^{a b} The Mahya Dağı in the Strandschagebirge ( Turkish Yıldız Dağları ) is the highest point in the European part of Turkey. The highest mountain in Turkey, the Ararat, is in the Asian part.

    It used to be a border mountain, now the border with Romania is a good 20 km south. Popular meeting place for nationalist events. The summit is heavily frequented and usually makes a very unkempt impression. On the occasion of the 5th anniversary of independence, a plate with built-in capsules with soil from all regions of Ukraine was set up on the summit. National symbols are often demolished by pro-Russian vandals . The Ukrainians accuse Moscow of directing these actions.

51. ↑ The Kékes is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Hungary and also enjoys a good reputation as a wine-growing region.
52. ↑ Also listed are the highest mountains in the countries of the United Kingdom. The highest point in the British Overseas Territories, Mount Paget, South Georgia ( claimed by Argentina ). Antarctic territorial claims are not listed here due to a lack of international recognition.

54. ↑ The Republic of Cyprus is a member of the EU . Since it can only exercise its jurisdiction in the southern part of its recognized national territory (the entire island), only this is in fact part of the EU. Northern Cyprus , which was occupied by the Turks in 1974, is currently politically and culturally not part of Europe.
55. ↑ The summit in the Troodos Mountains has been a restricted area since 1974 because the Royal Air Force Station Troodos is operated there. It was the oldest surviving British military base in Cyprus since 1878.
