Montauriol is a French municipality with 173 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Lot-et-Garonne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the arrondissement of Villeneuve-sur-Lot and the canton of Le Val du Dropt .

The place name is derived from the Latin "mons aureolus" and means very profane "golden mountain".

Attractions

  • A tumulus from the past was uncovered on the parish grounds
  • Saint Pierre church from the 15th / 16th centuries Century and altar and altarpiece (autel retable) from the 17th century made of wood, paint and gold, which was registered as a cultural asset by the French Ministry of Culture.
