The 54th National Hockey League All-Star Game was played on February 8, 2004 in Saint Paul , Minnesota . The game was hosted by the Minnesota Wild . As early as 1972 there was an All-Star Game in Minnesota, which was then hosted by the Minnesota North Stars .

The event, which was held at the Xcel Energy Center , was attended by the best players from the National Hockey League . In the game, the best players in the Western Conference competed against the best players in the Eastern Conference . The starting formations of the All-Star Teams could be determined by the fans through a vote. There were 19,434 spectators in the stadium.
