Topless (festival)
The Oben ohne Open Air (own spelling: OBEN OHNE) is a music festival that has been taking place in Munich since 1998 and is organized by the Munich-City District Youth Association and the Munich-Country District Youth Association. With 20,000 tickets sold recently, it is one of the largest open-air festivals in southern Germany .
In 2016, the topless was canceled due to the attack in Munich on the eve of the festival for reasons of security and piety. In 2020, like almost all major cultural events, it was canceled due to the measures taken to contain the COVID-19 pandemic .
organization
The name "topless" refers to the non-existent roof at open-air festivals. The open air mostly takes place on one day, only in the years 2004 to 2006 the festival lasted over two days. It is largely financed through subsidies, sponsors and media partnerships. In addition, volunteers support the construction and dismantling, the artist support and the medical area of the open air. So the tickets could always be offered at youth-friendly prices. Entry was free from 2008 to 2012.
As the organizers are recognized youth welfare organizations , young people from the age of 12 can attend the event alone.
Visitor numbers
Most of the visitors are between 14 and 24 years old.
program
In addition to the headliners from hip-hop , rap , indie and alternative music, there are always up-and-coming bands on stage.
Supporting program
In addition to music, the topless offers a cultural, political, social and sporting program designed by young people for young people. The youth associations and institutions of the district youth councils have the opportunity to present themselves to a large target audience and to arouse young people's interest in these topics. In 2014 the so-called Azubistraße was integrated into the event site. Here companies introduce themselves and provide information on training and internship positions as well as career opportunities in the respective company. Since 2018 the Azubistraße has been under the new name “Job-Allee”.
inclusion
The artists at the open air will be supported on stage by musical sign language interpreters. With full physical effort, they recreate the music of the bands and translate the lyrics into sign language at the same time as the music , thus making the festival tangible and tangible for deaf young people and young adults.
There is an FM system for those who are hard of hearing. A raised platform for people in wheelchairs is located in the center of the festival area and there is a support service for blind or visually impaired guests in the form of a guide for the blind.
