Life

Pitbull was born to Cuban parents in Miami , Florida . Already in his early years he was interested in the works of various poets. At the age of three he was able to quote works by the Cuban poet José Martí . Pérez's parents separated when he was young. He then grew up with his mother. At the age of 16, like his father, he began dealing in drugs. So his mother sent him to the children's home, and he grew up with a foster family in Roswell , Georgia .

He attended South Miami Senior High School and then Miami Coral Park High School and then focused on his rapper career. He reported that as a white rapper with blue eyes it was hard for him to be taken seriously. So a lot of work was part of his breakthrough. His music is influenced by the Miami bass genres of pop music. He cited Celia Cruz and Willy Chirino as further sources of inspiration .

He said he chose his stage name because pit bulls are biting down and too stupid to lose. This is exactly how he worked out his career plan. He wants to bite through and not lose sight of the goal of celebrating the breakthrough. After meeting Lil Jon in Miami, Pitbull had his first official recording on Lil Jon and East Side Boyz's album Kings of Crunk in 2002. Pitbull's song Oye was used as the soundtrack to the movie 2 Fast 2 Furious in 2003 . With these two tracks he was able to make a name for himself in the music world for the first time.

Pitbull performing live (2008)

In 2001 Pitbull signed a contract with Luther Campbell's record label Luke Records . Then followed a contract with Jullian Boothes label A&R . In 2001 Robert Fernandez signed him with Famous Artist Music & Management , an independent label and management company that specializes in making artists great. When the contract with Luke Records expired, he moved to Famous Artist Music & Management . Together they focused on making Pitbull's music radio-ready. Fernandez later said to HitQuarters: “Back then his songs consisted of many stanzas and it took a long time for a chorus to kick in. So we set out to make the songs more catchy and less on rap. "

Fernandez got Lil Jon to record the intro of his new album Kings of Crunk with Pitbull . According to Fernandez, Jon took a liking to Pérez and gave him the opportunity to contribute his own track to the album. This was called Pitbull Cuban Ride-Out . The whole purpose was that Pitbull should quickly get a bigger name in the rap scene.
