tourism
The rear Lüsenstal with the towns of Praxmar and Lüsens is a popular ski touring and hiking area.
St. Sigmund is a two-season tourist municipality with a focus on winter tourism, whereby the proximity to the Kühtai ski area also plays a role.

history
Today's St. Sigmund Rotte Haggen is already mentioned in a document from 1152 to 1167 from Ottobeuren Abbey as "Gihage" with two Schwaighöfen there. St. Sigmund was a rest stop on the connection path from the Inn Valley to the central Ötztal. The community at the head of the valley was hit by severe avalanches in 1817 and 1970, which is why the hamlet of Alt-Peida was relocated in 1971/72 and built as Neu-Peida in the area of the St. Sigmund local church .
