Tiefenbach is a municipality in the Upper Palatinate district of Cham and the seat of the Tiefenbach administrative community .
geography
Geographical location
Tiefenbach is located in the Upper Palatinate Forest and in the Upper Bavarian Forest Nature Park . The border with the Czech Republic runs to the east of the municipality .

The place Hannesriedermühle is not an official part of the municipality.
There are the districts Altenschneeberg, Breitenried, Hannesried, Irlach, Katzelsried, Schönau, Steinlohe and Tiefenbach. The municipality of Tiefenbach shares the district of Steinlohe with the neighboring municipality of Treffelstein to the southeast .
history
Until the church is planted
Tiefenbach was the rule of the Barons von Reisach. The place was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and the seat of the closed Hofmark . In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

Incorporations
On January 1, 1972, the previously independent municipality of Breitenried was incorporated. On July 1, 1972, when the district of Waldmünchen in the district of Cham, Altenschneeberg, Hannesried and Irlach (all previously in the district of Oberviechtach ) and parts of the Steinlohe community were added. The main part of the dissolved community Schönau followed on July 1, 1974. On May 1, 1978 Katzelsried was added.

Culture and sights
Museums
- Museum of the former lace school
- In the hall of the former lace school built in 1912 (today the town hall), the museum shows designs, sample drawings, sample letters, lace and the history of the lace school.
- Ludwig Gebhard Museum
- Exhibition of colored linocuts , etchings and sculptures by the artist Ludwig Gebhard as well as textile works based on his designs.
Architectural monuments
- Filial church St. Laurentius in Schönau: gable-independent hall building with saddle roof, retracted apse and facade tower with pointed roof, mid-19th century, choir extension in 1954
- Hüttenhof farm in Schönau: two-storey half-hipped roof construction around 1600 and sheepfold with hayloft, eaves-sided saddle roof construction, block construction, probably 19th century

Green spaces and recreation
On the northwestern outskirts of Tiefenbach near the Russenmühle, on the banks of the Tiefenbach, is the Tiefenbach forest pool. There is an outdoor swimming pool with toilets, changing rooms and a restaurant. Barbecue evenings and open-air concerts are also held here.
Two kilometers south of Tiefenbach is the extensive recreational area of the Silbersee with opportunities for swimming, camping, water sports (windsurfing and sailing) and fishing. There is a circular path with information boards and in winter there is an opportunity for ice skating and curling. There are well-developed hiking trails on the shore and around the lake. The Silbersee has three bathing areas with toilets. There is a kiosk at the swimming area on the western bank, which is open in the afternoon when the weather is nice.

Economy including agriculture and forestry
In 2017 there were 189 jobs subject to social security contributions in the municipality. Of the resident population, 722 people were in employment subject to compulsory insurance. This meant that the number of out-commuters was 533 greater than that of in-commuters. 31 residents were unemployed. In 2016 there were 58 farms; 1,456 hectares of the municipal area were used for agriculture.
