About this picture

Wilhelmsdorf is a municipality in the district of Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim in Middle Franconia . It is a member of the Hagenbüchach-Wilhelmsdorf administrative association.

The place is sometimes confused with the Wilhermsdorf market in the district of Fürth, 9 kilometers away as the crow flies in the west-southwest .

geography

Geographical location

The municipality of Wilhelmsdorf occupies most of the catchment area of the Albach , which flows through the municipality south-southeast and flows into the Middle Aurach at its southern edge . The main town Wilhelmsfeld with by far the largest population is located immediately before the Albach enters the Aurach Valley in its valley basin and on the slopes on both sides. In the north, the community has a share of the high forest area between the Middle Aurach and Aisch valleys, otherwise the landscape is mostly open. There are several ponds along the watercourses.

The distance to the district town of Neustadt an der Aisch in the west-north-west is a little less than 10 km, to the nearest large cities Erlangen in the east-north-east and Fürth in the south-east around 20 km, both as the crow flies.

Community structure

The municipality has six officially named municipality parts (the type of settlement is given in brackets ):

The Ziegelhof was run as a part of the municipality until 1875.

Neighboring communities

In the northeast, Wilhelmsdorf borders on the community of Oberreichenbach in the neighboring district of Erlangen-Höchstadt , everywhere else it is surrounded by the area of the Emskirchen market in its own district.

history

The place was first mentioned by name in 1361/64 in the castle counts Salbuch as "Nidern Albach". The place name refers to the water body name "Albach". The defining word is mhd. "Âl" (= eel ). The prefix "Nidern" is used to distinguish it from the Oberalbach upstream . In 1632 the place, especially Unteralbach, became deserted as a result of the Thirty Years' War . In 1680, at the invitation of Margrave Christian Ernst Brandenburg-Kulmbach, 15 Huguenot families were settled in order to rebuild the place. In 1690 the place was mentioned as "Vilemstorf". It was named after the Bayreuth Hereditary Prince Georg Wilhelm, who was born in 1678 . After the bankruptcy of the first settlers, the estate fell back to the margravate. In 1692 French-Swiss Calvinists were settled. In 1694 the noble Huguenot family Buirette von Oehlefeld bought the place for 1000 Rhenish guilders, which received the status of a Vogtland manor with an extended bailiwick. A reformed congregation emerged that existed until the beginning of the 20th century. Today's church was built by the patronage family Buirette von Oehlefeld on their own account and inaugurated in 1754, they also donated considerable capital to the local community for better maintenance.

In the 18th century the place was known for its stocking knitting. Later the businessman Edmund Boden and the technician Johann Christian Lotter founded the first drawing material factory . The manufacture of drawing materials played an important role in Wilhelmsdorf in the 20th century. In the 1970s, one third of the drawing tools industry in the Federal Republic of Germany was located in Wilhelmsdorf. You can find out more about the history of the drawing material factories in the Wilhelmsdorf Circle Museum.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 62 properties in Wilhelmsdorf (church, rectory, castle, school, civil servants' house, servant's apartment, 13 estates and estates, 37 houses and small houses, 1 tavern, shepherd's house, shepherd's house, Stadelhof, mill, brick yard). The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Bayreuth Fraischvogteiamt Emskirchen-Hagenbüchach . The manor Wilhelmsdorf held the village and community rulership and the lordship over all properties.

As part of the municipal edict, the Wilhelmsdorf tax district was formed in 1811 , to which Stadelhof , Unteralbachermühle and Ziegelhof belonged. In 1813 the rural community Wilhelmsdorf was formed, which was congruent with the tax district. It was subordinate to the regional court of Markt Erlbach in administration and jurisdiction and to the tax office in Neustadt an der Aisch . The voluntary jurisdiction and local police were held by the Wilhemsdorf patrimonial court until 1848 . From 1862 Wilhelmsdorf was administered by the Neustadt an der Aisch district office (renamed Neustadt an der Aisch district in 1938 ) and from 1856 by the Markt Erlbach rent office (1920–1929: Markt Erlbach tax office , from 1929: Neustadt an der Aisch tax office ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court of Markt Erlbach until 1879, from 1880 to 1959 district court of Markt Erlbach , from 1959 district court of Fürth . The community originally had an area of 2.394 km².

Wilhelmsdorf coat of arms
Blazon : " Square of silver and black, topped with a golden Huguenot cross with a red heart shield , inside a silver rafter , accompanied by three two-to-one silver jugs."

Yellow and red municipal flag

Justification for the coat of arms: The silver-black crossing is reminiscent of the Hohenzollern house , the Huguenot cross of the Huguenot settlers and the heart shield is the modified family coat of arms of the local noble family Buirette von Oehlefeld, the "Krüglein" in it as a talking coat of arms for the French family name "Buirette".

Administrative community

Until December 31, 2006, the municipality with the municipalities of Emskirchen and Hagenbüchach belonged to the administrative community (VG) Emskirchen - one of the first administrative communities after the Bavarian regional reform in 1972. The Bavarian state parliament approved the exit of the market town of Emskirchen from the VG at the turn of the year 2006/07 November 28, 2006 (printed matter 15/6960).
