A former Indian Administrative (I.A.S.) Officer of 1987 batch Tamil Nadu Cadre and a former Investigating Officer of the premier investigating agency of India, the Central Bureau of Investigation (C.B.I.), he has strong academic background in the fields of Public Administration (M.A.), Management (M.B.A. in International Business from Indian Institute of Foreign Trade and Master in Marketing Management from Pondicherry University) and Law (Bachelor of Laws, LL.B. from Delhi University, Master of Laws, LL.M. from Indian Law Institute, I.L.I. and Master of Business Laws, M.B.L. from National Law School of India University, Bangaluru). He is an International Accredited Civil / Commercial Mediator from SIMI, Singapore, CMC, UK and ADR ODR International, UK and an Accredited Negotiator from ADR ODR International, UK. Presently he is Managing Partner in two law firms, KD Lex Chambers LLP-Centre for Conflict Resolution, Gurgaon, a premier institution imparting accredited training courses in Mediation and Arbitration and a full service law firm Legal Intellects LLP, New Delhi. Bajaj was a member (health) of the [[Planning Commission (India)|Planning Commission]] with the rank of [[Minister of state]] in 1991–98. He joined the [[AIIMS]] faculty in 1966 and in 1979 was appointed professor and head of medicine. He was appointed honorary physician to the [[President of India]] during 1977-1982 and again from 1987 to 1992. He was also consultant physician to the [[Prime Minister of India|Prime minister]] from 1991 to 1996. Jasbir Singh Bajaj was an Indian physician and diabetologist. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian award, for his outstanding contribution to the medical sciences and research, and his efforts to improve the healthcare delivery system.[1][2] Earlier he was decorated with the Padma Shri in 1981 and the Padma Bhushan in 1982.[3] He was the ninth person in the country to receive the award for services in the field of medicine and research.[4]

Bajaj was a member (health) of the Planning Commission with the rank of Minister of state in 1991–98. He joined the AIIMS faculty in 1966 and in 1979 was appointed professor and head of medicine. He was appointed honorary physician to the President of India during 1977-1982 and again from 1987 to 1992. He was also consultant physician to the Prime minister from 1991 to 1996. He specialized in endocrinology and was honoured by the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden when, at the time of its 175th anniversary celebration in 1985, Doctorate in Medicine was conferred upon him.[5] He was a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London as well as of Edinburgh, and of the National Academy of Medical Sciences.[6] He was also a founder fellow of the Indian College of Physicians. Prof. Bajaj died on January 8, 2019.
