Claudio Corti (cyclist)
Claudio Corti (born March 1, 1955 in Bergamo ) is a former Italian cyclist , world champion and sporting director of cycling teams.
After Claudio Corti became Italian runner-up in road racing in 1976 , the following year he won the title of world champion in road racing for amateurs at the UCI road world championships in 1977 in San Cristóbal, Venezuela . In the same year he won the Giro Ciclistico d'Italia ( Baby Giro ).
In 1978 Corti signed a contract as a professional . In 1980 and 1984 he won the Giro del Friuli . Also in 1984 he was runner-up in the professional road race at the UCI Road World Championships in 1984 in Barcelona .
In 1985 Claudio Corti became Italian road racing champion and won the Giro del Veneto , the Giro di Romagna and the Giro dell'Umbria . In 1986 he became Italian champion for a second time and won the Giro di Toscana . In 1987 he won the Giro del Trentino . Once, in 1987, Corti competed in the Tour de France and once in the Vuelta a España (54th place in 1985). On the other hand, he drove the Giro d'Italia twelve times between 1978 and 1989, his best placing was fifth in 1986 . He also drove the classics regularly, in 1985 he came fifth on the Tour of Lombardy .
For the last two years as a professional , Corti drove in the Chateau d'Ax team , later Team Polti ; after the end of his active career, he switched to the management of the team. From 1997 to 2004 he headed the Saeco team and in 2005 Lampre . From 2006 to 2009 he was the sporting director of Team Barloworld . From 2012 to 2016 he headed the Colombia Coldeportes team .
Claudio Corti's son Marco is also a cyclist.
