Dampierre is a French commune in the department of Haute-Marne of the region Grand Est (before 2016: Champagne-Ardenne ). 387 inhabitants live in the municipality (as of January 1, 2017). The municipality belongs to the arrondissement of Langres and is part of the canton of Nogent (until 2015: canton of Neuilly-l'Évêque ). The inhabitants are called Dampierrois .
Geography and traffic
Dampierre is located on the northern edge of the Langres plateau , about 30 kilometers southeast of Chaumont . Dampierre is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Poinson-lès-Nogent in the north, Chauffourt in the east and northeast, Frécourt in the east and southeast, Neuilly-l'Évêque in the south and southeast, Changey in the south, Rolampont in the west and Thivet in the northwest.
The A31 autoroute runs through the municipality .
