Fontaine-au-Pire is a municipality with 1215 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the French department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the canton of Le Cateau-Cambrésis in the Arrondissement of Cambrai . It is bordered by Carnières to the northwest , Beauvois-en-Cambrésis to the north, Caudry to the east, Ligny-en-Cambrésis to the south, Haucourt-en-Cambrésis to the southwest and Cattenières to the west . The residents call themselves Fontenois (es) .
