Avesnes-les-Aubert is a French municipality with 3640 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Cambrai and the canton of Caudry (until 2015: canton of Carnières ). The inhabitants are called Auvesnois .
geography
Avesnes-les-Aubert is about ten kilometers east-northeast of Cambrai . Avesnes-les-Aubert is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Villers-en-Cauchies in the north and northeast, Saint-Aubert in the east, Saint-Hilaire-lez-Cambrai in the southeast, Boussières-en-Cambrésis in the south, Carnières in the southwest and Rieux- en-Cambrésis to the west and north-west.
The former route nationale 342 (today's Départementstrasse 942) runs through the municipality .
