Neuvilly

Neuvilly is a municipality with 1113 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the French department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the canton of Le Cateau-Cambrésis in the Arrondissement of Cambrai . It is bordered by Briastre to the north-west, Solesmes to the north-east, Forest-en-Cambrésis to the east, Montay to the south-east, Le Cateau-Cambrésis and Troisvilles to the south and Inchy to the south-west . The settlement area is 102 meters above sea level. The residents call themselves Neuvillois (es) .

history

It is known that there was a church in the village in 1057. From the 12th to the 14th century it was called “Novis Litibus”, “Nueveslis”, “Novellis”, “Nuevillis” and “Neuvillis”, depending on the time period.

From 1907 to 1916 the railway line from Solesmes to Avesnes-sur-Helpe was in operation, which also served Neuvilly.
