The municipality Marcoing is located on a bend of the Scheldt and on to her parallel navigation canal Canal de Saint-Quentin , about seven kilometers southwest of the center of Cambrai .

Neighboring municipalities of Marcoing are Noyelles-sur-Escaut in the north, Proville and Rumilly-en-Cambrésis in the northeast, Masnières in the east, Villers-Plouich in the south, Ribécourt-la-Tour in the southwest and Flesquières in the west.
