List of papally recognized international lay associations

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list of international lay associations recognized by the pope contains the international associations of believers of the Roman Catholic Church recognized by the Pontifical Council for the Laity or its successor institution, the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life .

The directory, which lists more than 120 organizations, was first published by the lay council in 2004 and contains numerous (“new”) spiritual communities operating at the world church level , whose world church importance and visibility should be emphasized or improved by the publication of the list. In addition to the papally recognized international associations, there are numerous other associations of believers in the Roman Catholic Church, some of which are also internationally active, which are recognized at the diocese level or by bishops' conferences for certain countries. The present list is sorted alphabetically according to the German-language names.
