The 1995/96 OHL season was the 16th season of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). The Guelph Storm won the Hamilton Spectator Trophy as the best points team of the regular season and were subject to the Peterborough Petes in the playoff final , which won the J. Ross Robertson Cup .
Changes
The Ontario Hockey League was increased to 17 teams at the beginning of the 1995/96 season by adding the Barrie Colts and placing them in the Central Division . In addition, the Detroit Junior Red Wings changed their name to Detroit Whalers .
